    Cathodic protection potential inspection piece is used to simulate the cathodic polarization potential of the investigated pipeline. It is buried at the pipeline testing point, with some parts of the inspection piece exposed and the rest covered with anti-corrosion layer. The buried state and material of the inspection piece are the same as those of the pipeline, and it is connected to the pipeline through a cable. In this way, the exposed part of the inspection piece simulates a leakage point of the anti-corrosion layer of the pipeline. When the pipeline is in cathodic protection state, while the pipeline is polarized by the protection current, the inspection piece will also be polarized to the same degree as the pipeline. By measuring the instantaneous disconnection potential of the inspection piece, it can represent the power-off potential of the pipeline measurement point.

    NACESP0502-2010 "Direct Assessment Method for External Corrosion of Pipelines" considers that the power-off potential of the inspection piece is similar to the cathodic protection potential at the leakage point of the pipeline anti-corrosion layer, which can evaluate the cathodic protection effect of the pipeline.
